In this Masterclass, I will teach you how to spin different fibers into thread. It is a simple masterclass and you can join without having any knowledge. It is fun and easy. I will also teach you how to twine after spinning and tell you all the ins and outs of different fibers and the local production of our flax.

This masterclass provides an introduction to dyeing and making inks with natural indigo, other natural dyes, local plants, waste, and acid dye. You will learn more about the background of dye plants, and vegetable dyes, and how to make natural dye baths and inks. You will also learn to use synthetic dyes and the associated techniques, science background, and the differences between synthetic and natural dyes and their applications. In the masterclass, you will make samples in a diverse palette of shades. We will also work with color-over-color dyes. This produces colors you’ve never seen before.
In addition to the techniques, there is time during the master to read books with all historical, political and cultural backgrounds of color and dyes. Extensive research material is available.
The masterclass includes materials. So you don’t have to take anything with you. Experience is not necessary. Just the right attitude and interest.
The masterclass is from 11 a.m. to about 4.30 p.m. / 5 p.m., Gouwstraat 56c, Rotterdam.

Deze masterclass biedt een introductie op het verven met natuurlijke indigo, andere natuurlijke verfstoffen, lokale planten, afval en acid dye. Je leert meer over de achtergrond van verfplanten, plantaardige kleurstoffen en hoe je een plantaardig verfbad of inkt maakt. Ook leer je de synthetische verfstoffen en de bijbehorende technieken te gebruiken en en leer je meer over de verschillen tussen synthetische en natuurlijke verfstoffen en de bijbehorende toepassingen. Je maakt in de materclass staaltjes in een divers pallet aan tinten. Ook gaan we aan de slag met kleur over kleur verven. Dit levert echt kleuren op die je nog nooit gezien hebt.
Naast de technieken is er tijdens de master tijd om boeken te besturen met alle historische, politieke en culturele achtergronden van kleur en verfstoffen. Uitgebreid onderzoek materiaal is aanwezig.
De mastclass is inclusief materiaal. Je hoeft dus niets mee te nemen. Ervaring is niet nodig. Wel de juiste houding en interesse.
