This masterclass offers a very comprehensive introduction to dyeing with natural indigo. You will learn more about the background of the dye plant (Indigofera tinctoria) and you will learn how to make a vegetable dye bath with natural ingredients. In the workshop you will make samples in a diverse palette of shades.
You will learn about the before and after treatment of your material and the painting process itself. But you also learn more about the meaning of the color in various cultures and think about what blue means to you practically and personally.
The masterclass includes material. So you don’t have to take anything with you. Experience is not necessary. The participants are expected to have an inquisitive and independent working attitude.

Deze masterclass biedt een zeer uitgebreide introductie op het verven met natuurlijke indigo. Je leert meer over de achtergrond van de verfplant (Indigofera tinctoria) en je leert hoe je een plantaardig verfbad maakt met natuurlijke ingrediënten. Je maakt in de workshop staaltjes in een divers pallet aan tinten.
Je leert over het voor en na behandelen van je materiaal en het verf proces zelf. Maar ook leer je meer over de betekenis van de kleur in diverse culturen en denkt na over wat blauw voor jou betekend praktisch en persoonlijk.
De masterclass is inclusief materiaal. Je hoeft dus niets mee te nemen. Ervaring is niet nodig. Van de deelnemers wordt wel een onderzoekende en zelfstandige werkhouding verwacht.
