Background I finished the Rietveld Academy (fashion design) in 2001. My knowlegde in dying and weaving comes from different (international) teachers: In 2012 I followed several master classes on natural dye by the French chemist and botanist Michael Garcia. This research was continued in 2018 with a master class indigo dye at Aboubakar Fofana. In 2016 I went to Japan for 3 weeks and had lessons from Mr. Matsueda (living treasure, and traditional weaver of kasuri fabrics and indigo dye specialist, Mr. Shomogawa (owner of an industrial kasuri weaving mill) and fashion designer Takarajima Senkou. In 2018 I spent 3 weeks in Oaxaca (Mexico) to practice the technique of brocade weaving on a backstrap loom. In the Netherlands I studied under different weaving teachers (o.a Tanny van Dijk, Margareth Sabee and Corrie can Eijk. There I practiced binding techniques, gobelin weaving, ikat weaving and damask weaving.
